Description: An elongated catfish that has long barbels extending from the mouth.The body is sliver in color with many black spots. These spots can also be found on the fins, which are transparent. The nomen Angelicus pigmelodus is somewhat misleading, since the African species Synodontis angelicus is colored exactly the opposite: black with white spots. The hard pectoral fin rays are strongly serrated which can lead to injuries. Specimens captured with a net hopelessly entangle themselves. Therefore, use a glass or suitable plastic container to capture them. The mouth is wide and three pair of whiskers extend from it. It has a large head. In dimly illuminated aquaria, this beautiful species will feed even during the day. They use their very long barbels for rooting around the bottom for food.

The breeding of Pictus catfish is unsuccessful, possibly because fish do not reach maturity in aquaria.
