The male is slender and more colorful. It also has a white tip on its anal fin, while the female's tip is yellow.
Use water with a pH of 5.5-6.5, a water hardness of 2-5 dH, and a water temperature of 72-79°F (22-26°C). Suggest peat filtration. Use a breeding tank with mesh netting or marbles at tank bottom so the eggs fall out of the reach of cannibalistic parents. The eggs hatch in 20-30 hours. The fry are easy to raise and should be fed crushed dry and small live foods.
