Description: A charming fish, unfortunately it is not often imported. Pseudosphromenus dayi has a brown colored, elongated body, which showing bars when stressed. The dorsal, anal and caudal fins are brownish-red with iridescent pale blue edge. The ventral fins are red with iridescent blue tips. The tail fin rays of male are sharply extended, and has orange coloration around the throat area.

Breeding of Brown Spike-Tailed Paradise Fish is quite easy. Reduce the water level to 10 cm and keep at a temperature of 28 °C. Pseudosphromenus dayi is a bubble-nest builder, the fish is a prolific spawner which occasionally chooses hollows. Both parents guard the nest, returning the eggs and fry if they fall out. The fry hatch in 30 hours, and the fry are usually free swimming after another 2-3 days. The parents should be removed at this point. Feed them with infusoria, brine shrimp nauplii or small flakes. The fry grow quite fast.
